Balancing efficiency, responsiveness and cost within logistics can be the difference between success and failure in business

Logistical considerations have always played a strategic role in business. In recent years, changes in the business environment have forced companies large and small to pay particularly close attention to how logistics relates to other aspects.

ALG has been helping private companies and government regulators navigate through the state of a country’s transportation system, energy restrictions, technological developments and other considerations in the formulation of their logistics strategy.

We have accrued extensive experience assisting our clients in the development of intermodal platforms, logistics and industrial parks, and special economic zones to support their commercial activity.

Our added value focuses on:
• Strategy definition, integrating other modes and supply chains
• Business and financial modelling: feasibility studies, market analysis and location assessment, etc.
• Technical design
• Support in PPP concessions and transactions

ALG has worked with top logistics companies and governments to successfully implement logistics facilities across the globe.

  • >10 Countries
  • >10.000.000 t of logistics capacity

We see the supply chain as a complex interaction of various factors. Our approach to supply chain optimisation focuses on these aspects at both the local and global levels. Supply chains integrate all stakeholders, facilities and data, working together to achieve the right balance in operations, inventory and facilities, at the lowest cost and with the highest performance.

The design of a supply chain needs a comprehensive understanding of all data and physical flows to anticipate future requirements.

  • >30.000 truck fleet
  • >200 Mt/year logistic processes

Technology, trends in trade and industrial globalisation have changed the way most warehouses operate.

ALG revolutionises warehouse optimisation, putting it into a new perspective by integrating supply-chain and technical-facility structures, defining an operational and organisational framework, as well as coordinating and controlling systems for warehouse operations.

ALG has been using this multi-level approach to advise major companies across business sectors on optimising their storage facilities around the world.

TECHNICAL COOPERATION WITH THE AFRICAN UNION COMMISSION. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA

Technical cooperation with the African Union Commission. Infrastructure Development in Africa

ALG was appointed by GIZ to support AUDA-NEPAD in setting up the Service Delivery Mechanism (SDM) to improve early-stage project preparation for infrastructure projects under the African Union’s PIDA framework. The objective was to address key bottlenecks in project development by creating an expert pool, establishing a PIDA Quality Label for project preparation, and developing a quick-check methodology to assess and mature PIDA projects.

The technical assistance led to the creation of two expert service pools, with 21 experts, and provided advisory services for PIDA projects from definition to financing. ALG also developed a PIDA Quality Label for assessing projects, applied a quick check methodology to 31 projects, and successfully raised private finance for regional infrastructure projects. Capacity building efforts were made to strengthen stakeholders’ abilities, ensuring a sustainable transition for NEPAD’s ongoing operations.

MARKET ASSESSMENT AND SCREENING OF INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED LOGISTICS IN LATIN AMERICA

Market assessment and screening of investment opportunities for Temperature Controlled Logistics in Latin America

ALG conducted a comprehensive study of the Temperature Controlled Logistics (TCL) sector in Latin America to identify growth drivers, key constraints, and potential investment opportunities. The region's TCL market is underdeveloped, with high logistics costs and significant waste due to inefficiencies.

The study included analyzing infrastructure, market dynamics, and key players in the TCL sector, as well as identifying barriers to entry and investment opportunities. ALG’s findings highlighted areas for improvement in logistics operations and capacity, ultimately enabling IFC to identify a promising investment opportunity. This project led to ongoing negotiations, with ALG providing technical and commercial due diligence.
